The Old Dispensary  NHS Practice Website

Change to our Practice Clinical System

In order for us to work more closely with the hospitals, ambulance staff and other healthcare providers, Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group are encouraging all GP practices to move to a single clinical system called SystmOne.

We will be changing our clinical computer system on the 7th May 2021.  As we are sure you will appreciate, this is a huge undertaking and will involve a lot of planning, training and time to implement the new system.

Data Sharing

Electronic records are now available in most of the places where you receive healthcare.

We will be changing our clinical computer system which holds all our patient electronic records to SystmOne.  This system allows your full electronic record to be shared to anyone involved in your direct care, across different health care services.

Sharing your health information is important, particularly for patients with complex conditions, as it plays a vital role in delivering the best care. For further information on who we share your records with and how to opt out of sharing please see our Privacy/GDPR link at the bottom of this page.

You can find out more about SystmOne on the TPP Website here:

All patients who are currently signed up for online access will need to re-register via Systmonline Registration

We thank you for your cooperation and patience during this busy time

Please contact the surgery to book your flu vaccination.  Clinics start mid September 2021.

Flu vaccinations are available to book now

We are OPEN and our GPs and nurses are here as usual seeing patients.

During these unprecedented times our absolute aim here at the surgery is to keep our patients and our staff safe. We are now becoming busier and we thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this time.  If you can't get through on the phone at first we ask that you wait 10 minutes and try again. We are seeing patients with pre-booked appointments but ask that you do not come to the surgery if you do not have an appointment.

For now the front door to the surgery remains closed as we need to limit the amount of people in the building.  There is an intercom system to the left of the front door and the receptionist can be contacted via this system.

If you have an appointment to see the nurse you will be asked to go to the back door where there is direct access to hand sanitiser and the nurse's room, we ask that you wear a face covering please.  The nurse will be wearing PPE. We have had a small shelter built at the rear of the building.

If you have an appointment with the GP you will be able to enter via the front door, you will need to wear a face covering and use the provided hand sanitiser.  We have had all our seating recovered in a wipe clean fabric and these are constantly cleaned throughout the day.  The GPs clean all seating and door handles between patients.  We ask all patients to respect social distancing rules.

The surgery is thoroughly cleaned every night and throughout the day The Old Dispensary Covid-19 Fogging Certificate

We are aware of the planned move to lifting the remaining Covid restrictions in England from the 19th of July 2021. Medical settings are a higher risk environment and will need to be subject to more control measures than other public facilities.

We are acting very cautiously and are maintaining:

  • Social distancing
  • Face coverings
  • PPE for healthcare staff

The delta variant is more transmissible and patients could come to the surgery when they are contagious. It is our duty to do all we can to keep both our patients and our staff safe whilst we deliver our care. Thank you.
