Have you got an appointment for a routine blood test at the surgery this week?

Due to a national shortage of Roche biochemistry reagent (the chemical required to process certain blood tests) our local hospitals are not able to fulfill requests for routine blood tests.

It is with regret therefore, that we have had to cancel all routine blood tests this week.   We are so sorry for the inconvenience.  We will do our best to rebook your appointment as soon as possible, and will keep you informed of the situation.

Who can have a Flu Vaccine?

**PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL OUR CLINICS FOR PATIENTS AGED 65 AND ABOVE ARE NOW FULLY BOOKED BUT WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF OBTAINING MORE SUPPLIES SO PLEASE CALL US THE WEEK BEGINNING 26th OCTOBER IF YOU ARE OVER 65 AND HAVE NOT YET HAD YOUR FLU VACCINE FOR THIS YEAR**

FLU CLINICS 2020 – HOW WE ARE KEEPING EVERYONE SAFE:

  • Patients are strongly advised not to come if they have any Covid symptoms, i.e. raised fever, new or persistent cough, change to sense of taste or smell.

  • Everyone is being given an individual, timed appointment for their flu vaccination this year. Entry will be via the front door and patients will be asked to maintain a 2 meter social distance whilst queuing inside and outside the surgery (unless you are with a household member).  Signs will be in place to help with this.

  • All patients will be asked to wear a face covering. All non-clinical staff will be wearing a face covering and/or visor. The clinicians administering the vaccine will be wearing full PPE, i.e. face mask, gloves, eye protection and plastic gowns/aprons.

  • On entering the building you will need to remove any outerwear to expose the arm that you wish to have the vaccine in so a short sleeved garment under any outerwear would be helpful.  On arrival you will be asked to sanitise your hands and you will have your temperature taken - anyone with a temperature above 37.8  will be sent home and asked to re-book. 

  • You will be asked to wait until the clinician is ready then you will be shown to the room.

  • Once vaccinated you will exit via the back door. 


CORONAVIRUS:

All GP surgeries have been advised to move towards a telephone based service and to reduce face to face contact in a bid to slow the spread of coronavirus in the community but we are OPEN and our GPs and nurses are here as usual.  

During these unprecedented times our absolute aim here at the surgery is to keep our patients and our staff safe.  We have adapted to a new way of working in order to achieve this. We are now becoming busier and we thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this time.  If you can't get through on the phone at first we ask that you wait 10 minutes and try again. We are seeing patients with pre-booked appointments but ask that you do not come to the surgery if you do not have an appointment. Due to social distancing measures we are unable to have as many staff in the building as we would usually have.

For now the front door to the surgery remains closed as we need to limit the amount of people in the building.  There is an intercom system to the left of the front door and the receptionist can be contacted via this system.

If you have an appointment to see the nurse you will be asked to go to the back door where there is direct access to hand sanitiser and the nurse's room, we ask that you wear a face covering please.  The nurse will be wearing PPE. We have had a small shelter built at the rear of the building.

If you have an appointment with the GP you will be able to enter via the front door, you will need to wear a face covering and use the provided hand sanitiser.  We have spaced out our appointments so no more than one person should be waiting at any time. You will be able to sit and wait directly outside the GPs room. We have had all our seating recovered in a wipe clean fabric and these are constantly cleaned throughout the day.  The GPs clean all seating and door handles between patients.  We ask all patients to respect the 2 meter social distancing rules.  

The surgery is thoroughly cleaned every night and throughout the day.

We are happy to take ALL repeat medication requests over the phone during this time but please do NOT order your medication early.

We are now asking ALL patients attending the surgery for any reason to cover their nose and mouth with a scarf or equivalent.

Parking and Access

Parking is either at the far end of the Allenview public car park in Wimborne or short stay parking of one hour is directly outside the premises at 32 East Borough, Wimborne.

Wheelchair access is via the surgery rear door or via a ramp through the front door. Please let reception know if you require assistance via our intercom system to the left of the front door. 

When we are closed

The surgery is open between 8:00am and 6:30pm Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays).  For any medical queries that cannot wait until the surgery is open please dial NHS 111 this is a free service from both landlines and mobiles (although if you call from a pay-as-you-go mobile you will need at least 1p credit).

If you have any concerns you can always be referred to physiotherapy in the usual way with a letter from your GP, Consultant or Nurse
